Description
Delta Flower Beetle (Trigonopeltastes delta)
The Delta Flower Beetle is widely distributed in the eastern US. It was found to be the most common of all flower-visiting beetles in the Florida Everglades. It is also commonly known as the Delta Flower Scarab or the "D beetle". The triangle on the beetle's pronotum has been suggested as mimicry of the markings on paper wasps in the genus Polistes. Most of its activities revolve around flowers - they eat pollen and mate almost exclusively on flower blossoms.
Delta flower beetles are members of the subfamily Cetoniinae, commonly called fruit or flower chafers. There are around 4,000 species, many of them still undescribed.

Such a cool marking. That really does look like a letter Δ. Brilliant shot of this loud-patterned creature.
